A delegation of Defence Attachés accredited to Uganda visited the National Defence College – Uganda (NDC-U) in Njeru on a familiarisation tour of the country’s key military training institutions.
The visit aimed to deepen international military cooperation and provide the diplomats with firsthand insight into the facilities, curricula, and professional training programs offered by the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF).
Brigadier General Kefa Nangeso, Dean of Studies at NDC-U, welcomed the visiting officials and, on behalf of the Commandant, thanked international partners for their continuous support in enhancing professional military training.
“Our officers have greatly benefited from interactions with foreign counterparts during study tours and collaborative programs facilitated through the Defence Attachés,” he said.
Colonel Patrick Nkaduda, the Defence Attaché of Kenya and Dean of the Defence Attachés Association in Uganda, highlighted the importance of the visit.
“It is crucial for Defence Attachés to understand the facilities and training capabilities of UPDF institutions. This knowledge enables us to advise and assist our respective forces in cooperating with Uganda on professional military training initiatives,” he said.
The delegation also toured other UPDF institutions in Jinja City, including the Senior Command and Staff College, the Legal Training Centre, and the Non-Commissioned Officers Academy, gaining a comprehensive overview of Uganda’s military education and professional development programs.
The engagement reflects Uganda’s ongoing commitment to fostering bilateral and multilateral military relations and enhancing the professional competencies of its officers through knowledge exchange and international collaboration.
